Bayou Buzz Reports Hastert AWOL on Relief Vote

Dennis the Menace Hastert must have really meant it when he said rebuilding New Orleans is optional. Bayou Buzz reports the Speaker is planning to attend a Republican fundraiser rather than showing up for an emergency vote on aid to Katrina victims.

Hastert AWOL During House Katrina Vote

Republican Congressman and Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert who set off a firestorm on Thursday when he questioned the need to rebuild New Orleans might be making another major bonehead decision.

The legislation passed by the U.S. Senate of 10.5 billion to rebuild the Gulf Coast and New Orleans is moving to the House. Guess who will not be there when the vote occurs? Dennis Hastert. He will be at a fundraiser.

Think of the importance of his presence to lead this legislation. Instead, he is playing partisan politics—raising money for his party or for a fellow republican. Is this a show of leadership?

  1. Maybe someone should check into Sibel Edmonds, the former FBI translator’s “hints” that this upright member of your government is up to his ass in ill-gotten “campaign contributions” from various governmental and non-governmental Turkish sources! What’s in it for him if NO and the gulf coast go down?

  2. the next time the mississippi floods the farm land in hastert’s neighboring states, let’s not help them either, it’s only farms.

  3. Rep.J.Dennis Has-turd will support the relief funds if you tell him that Halliburton would get the contract for rebuilding New Orleans!

  4. HERE YOU ARE HALIBURTON, ALREADY HAS A CONTRACT TO REBUILD PART OF NEW ORLEANS, SO HASTERT IS JUST A ROBART FOR BUSH AND SO IS JOE LEBERMAN

  5. We know that government response to the Gulf States was lethargic, but there is something very mysterious about the whole thing. My prediction is,when America gets the final death toll, there will be horrendous outrage across the land and around the world.

It appears the notion Hastert has about mowing N. Orleans down, was shared by Bush in a strange manner. Hastert wanted to mow down N.O. and forget it. Seems Bush wanted to mow down the desperate residents by ignoring their pleas. It backfired once the media got involved and America started demanding answers.
Five days later, Bush does a photo opt, hugging some of the residents who refused to die.

  6. Class warfare??????????????????????
WHY no one could take these people to Texas before, not after?????????? Dear God please be with these people and let us all give all we can to help . Forgive all that failed to prepare for this tragedy.
