A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds Democrats hold a 9-point lead among likely voters over Republicans in congressional preference, 50% to 41%. However, the same poll also shows President Trump at his highest job rating yet as president, 47% to 49%.

A new CNN poll finds Democrats leading Republicans on the generic congressional ballot by 54% to 41% among likely voters. “This is the widest margin of support for Democrats in a midterm cycle since 2006, when at this point, the party held a whopping 21-point lead over Republicans among likely voters. That’s also when Democrats seized control of the House from Republicans, making Nancy Pelosi speaker until 2011.”

A new Quinnipiac poll finds Democrats leading Republicans in the generic congressional ballot by seven points, 49% to 42% — a drop from the 12 point lead they had last month. Also interesting: American voters say by a 50% to 43% margin that they want Democrats to control the U.S. Senate.

A new USC Dornslife/Los Angeles Times poll found Democrats leading Republicans in a generic ballot test, 55% to 41%. Key takeaway: “Likely voters disapprove of Trump’s overall performance in office by 57% to 39%, the poll found. Almost half of likely voters, 49%, said they ‘strongly’ disapprove, while just under one-quarter, 24%, strongly approve.”

A new Quinnipiac poll finds Democrats leading Republicans in the generic congressional ballot, 51% to 42%. Key finding: Independent voters go Democratic 50% to 38%. Another key finding: “Donald Trump’s presidency makes 52% of American voters think less favorably of the Republican Party, while 16% think more favorably of the GOP and 30% say President Trump has no impact on their views.”

A new USA Today/Suffolk poll finds that by a nearly 2-1 margin, 58% to 32%, Americans say they want to elect a Congress that mostly stands up to President Trump, not one that mostly cooperates with him. If the election were held today, those surveyed say they are more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate for Congress than the Republican one by 47% to 32% — a yawning 15 percentage-point advantage.
54% to 38%
A new CNN/SRSS poll finds Democrats leading Republicans in the generic congressional ballot by a large margin, 54% to 38%. Also important: “Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents remain more enthusiastic about voting this fall than Republicans and Republican-leaners. Overall, 51% of that Democratic base say they are extremely or very enthusiastic about voting in November compared with 41% of the Republican base.”

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds Democrats leading Republicans in the generic congressional ballot by 11-points, 50% to 39%. NBC News: “The last time Democrats both held a double-digit lead and hit 50 percent on this question in the NBC/WSJ poll was September 2008, right before the party won the White House and picked up a substantial number of House and Senate seats.”

That mark is the highest the RCP’s average has gone since just before the 2010 elections, where Republicans netted 63 House seats.”

Washington Post: “If that were actually to turn out to be the case, of course, we’d be talking about a Democratic landslide — and almost definitely a Democratic takeover of the House that is so difficult given the map. But even if it’s just close to reality, it could be a very bad omen for the Republican Party in a historically tough first midterm election under a president of their own party.”
