Rove Has Texas State Employee Fired for Speaking about Him to Media

Bush World: In 2003, while the nation was at war, Karl Rove secretly revealed to the media the identity of United States undercover operative who specialized in tracking the nuclear arms black market overseas. He has admitted that he spoke with at least one reporter – Judith Miller of the New York Times – and at least one rightwing propagandist who calls himself a reporter – Bob Novak – and one real reporter – Matt Cooper of Time Magazine – have said that Rove was their source for the identity of the agent, Valerie Plame.

Now Rove has pressured the Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams, who happens to be a client of Rove’s, to fire an employee who provided general information to a reporter about Texas law that relates to Rove’s status as a voter in Texas – even though she did not mention Rove by name. (And even though Rove has not lived in Texas for at least five years.)

Listen for yourself as Rush Limbaugh repeatedly refers to New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, as Mayor “Nayger.”

Bush Record Shows It Really Is About Race

Some people disagree with Colin Powell that the failure of the federal emergency response in New Orleans “wasn’t a racial thing.” If it were really about poverty, as Bush defenders claim, then his administration wouldn’t spend so much time cleaning up his record on blacks, says the Palm Beach Post.

Poverty doesn’t polarize in the same vocal, fearful manner that race does…

If you were offended by Kanye West’s comments, you should be more offended by President Bush’s record.

The unending cluelessness in this administration is getting old.

President Bush so wanted minority voters to believe that his administration “is working very well for them” that a report by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was changed last year to downplay that ethnic and racial “disparities are pervasive in our health-care system.”

Because a racial profiling report by the Justice Department demonstrated that, in traffic stops, things too often are not “working very well for them,” the report was ordered to be whitewashed. A supervisor who objected recently was fired.

President Bush’s meddling with the Head Start preschool program threatens to leave thousands of poor, black children struggling to catch up. No Child Left Behind, his underfinanced genius of a PR scheme, annually leaves thousands of black children behind academically.

He so values the equity the Voting Rights Act of 1965 offered African-Americans and others that he’s made no commitment to extend and strengthen the provisions that expire in 2007. Even though unemployment rates for African-Americans are consistently almost double the rates for white Americans, and black households had the lowest median income in 2004 ($30,134) among all race groups, and 72 percent of white Americans own homes vs. only 48 percent of African-Americans, President Bush believes that the work force and the educational system are working so well that they don’t need affirmative action.

Bush is not only predisposed to racism but his policies reflect the qualities we have seen over and over this summer, from the famous, “I have to get on with my life” line regarding Cindy Sheehan to the classic, “Brownie, you’re doing a heckuva job” in New Orleans.

This guy doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get anything outside of his privileged circumstances and narrow life perspective (uncluttered as it is with insights from newspapers or books). He chooses faith over facts, unshakably certain that his view is the only view. Who knew levees could break? Who knew wetlands matter? Who thought terrorists could fly planes as weapons? Who thought anyone would object to leaving thousands of poor blacks treading water with nothing for three or four days? The unending cluelessness in this administration is getting old.

DeLay’s Cronies Indicted in Texas

Associated Press:

A grand jury has indicted a political action committee formed by U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and a Texas business group in connection with 2002 legislative campaign contributions.

The five felony indictments against the two groups were made public Thursday…

The charge against Texans for a Republican Majority alleged the committee illegally accepted a political contribution of $100,000 from the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care.

Four indictments against the Texas Association of Business include charges of unlawful political advertising, unlawful contributions to a political committee and unlawful expenditures such as those to a graphics company and political candidates.

Rove Cheats at Voting in Order to Cheat on Taxes

Wanted: a registered voter in Kerr County, Texas who hates Karl Rove as much as we do. AP:

The Texas Secretary of State’s office doesn’t have jurisdiction to investigate a watchdog group’s complaint that presidential adviser Karl Rove may be illegally voting in Texas, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Rove has been receiving for 3 1/2 years a homestead tax break and cap on his property tax for his Washington, D.C., home, valued at more than $1.1 million. He also was getting a homestead exemption in Texas for his Austin home he sold in 2003.

Spokesman Scott Haywood said complaints about a voter’s residency must be investigated by county officials. He also said the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, did not have standing to file the complaint against Rove. Such complaints would have to be filed by another registered voter in Kerr County, the county where Rove is registered…

CREW sent the complaint Tuesday after the Washington Post reported that local residents, including the Democratic Party chairman, said they never have seen Rove or his wife in the two rental cottages that they claim as their residence for voting purposes…

Elizabeth Reyes, an elections attorney in the Secretary of State’s election division, told the Post that property ownership “doesn’t make that a residence.”

…All this arose because Rove has been receiving for 3 1/2 years a homestead tax break and cap on his property tax for his Washington, D.C., home, valued at more than $1.1 million. He also was getting a homestead exemption in Texas for his Austin home he sold in 2003.

Washington officials changed the district’s homestead exemption law in 2002, making the tax break available only to Washington property owners who don’t vote elsewhere. The White House took the blame for Rove’s error in claiming the Washington exemption.

“The White House took the blame?” I guess Bush has run out of people to blame for his bad judgement and corrupt cronies, so now he’s blaming buildings.

Come on, there must be a Kerr County voter who would like to see Rove not be held above the law, just once. Anybody?

Bush Visit to San Diego During Hurricane Forced Cancer Patients to Miss Chemo Treatments

Remember when the Librul Media got all up in Bill Clinton’s face over a false story that he held up air traffic at LAX while Christophe gave him a haircut on Air Force One?

You can bet your last T-Cell that the Librul Media will give George Bush a free pass over this story:

The Naval Medical Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park was shut down to accommodate a visit by President George W. Bush Aug. 30 … forcing patients to cancel chemotherapy treatments and hundreds of scheduled patient visits.

“The pharmacy is closed. The emergency room is closed. Even chemotherapy patients will not be allowed on base,” the daughter of one patient told RAW STORY shortly before the President’s arrival. “My mother is a patient…She was contacted and told that her appointment had been canceled and would be rescheduled later…All civilian personnel and patients will not be allowed on base.”

Barbara Bush: Marie Antoinette for Our Time

“I feel so much better. I read… that Barbara Bush has toured the site where poor people have been relocated to Houston. She told a radio interviewer on Marketplace Monday, ‘Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them. They are faring far better than before Katrina.‘

“Well, shut my mouth, Barbara Bush is so kind to the under privileged. I mean after all, poor folks don’t really care about their home or their jobs or where they live or the lives of their children.

“Poor folks aren’t like rich folks according to this lady. But if you recall, this is the woman who said a couple of year ago that she did not watch body bags being transported home from the war because it wasn’t a pretty site. I guess it didn’t involve her family. Let’s call Barbara Bush Marie Antoinette.”

New York City Fox Channel Refuses to Air Anti-Bush, Pro-Gay Campaign Ad

The Emporer Is Naked: Sometimes New York is not that different from the rest of the country:

Channel 5, the Fox-affiliated television station in New York, rejected a campaign commercial for a Democrat running in a local race, and the candidate alleges it’s because the ad slams President Bush.

Brian Ellner, one of nine Democrats running for Manhattan borough president, said the station had agreed to air his ad for the two weeks leading up to the Sept. 13 primary. But Fox 5 pulled out of the deal after it saw the 30-second ad, which features Bush’s head superimposed onto a bare torso as the voiceover intones, “He claims he’s a uniter, but New Yorkers know the emperor has no clothes.”

Ellner’s advertisement has already drawn attention because it concludes with a scene in which he throws his arm around his partner of three years, Simon Holloway. His campaign says no openly gay candidates for public office have ever featured their significant others in political advertisements.

Ellner said Tuesday that Fox told the campaign media adviser and the ad buyer that the spot was refused because it was “disrespectful to the office of the president…”

Ellner, 35, said … “I think that it’s a decision that’s disrespectful to voters,” he said. “I think it’s anti-American.”

Christian Leader Blames Disaster on Gays, Israel & Bestiality

But what, exactly, are we asking God to bless – a nation moving a breakneck speed toward homosexual marriage, a nation awash in pornography, a nation in which our children are indoctrinated in perversion in the public schools, a nation in which most public displays of The Ten Commandments are considered offensive to the Constitution, a nation in which the elite does all in its considerable power to efface our Biblical heritage?
