I thought Palin did fine, as long as you don’t worry about things she said making actual sense (or about having to listen to Lisa Loopner’s mother*). Case in point: she said she and McCain would cut taxes while increasing spending on infrastructure, education, and job creation. All righty then.
Biden, poor guy in such a horrible position, was wonderful. I want to marry him and have several more of his children.
But what did you think? Do tell, doggone it.

Joe was darn good and it was refreshing to hear facts used in context and in direct answer to the question. Palin also sounded better than I had heard before but she has this annoying problem of avoiding the question when she doesn’t know the answer so it doesn’t inspire confidence. But I think she is such a lunatic fringe type that overall she came off to me as annoying as fingernails across a chalk board. yechk!
It appears that Palin was coached and given several canned, scripted responses and she parrotted them off even if they had nothing to do with the question or issue at hand.
So if McCain and herself are going to cut taxes while increasing spending on infrastructure (something the Republicans have been loathe to do) where is the money going to come from? Borrow more money? Cut social welfare spending? You won’t get a straight answer from Palin on that one.
Of course, I’m biased, but I think Biden did a much better job than Palin did when it came to actually answering the question that had been thrown out and backing it all up with facts and figures.
What is up with the winking? Palin wants to be treated as a “serious” candidate ready to step in as president if needed and she couldn’t answer any question with substance. I guess we should be satisfied that she knows how to wink. Can’t wait to see Tina Fey after this!
Palin did OK and was well-prepped, and I was frankly relieved and happy for her on a personal level that she didn’t have a meltdown or embarrass herself. But I also have to say that Palin’s winks and cutesy smiles just didn’t seem appropriate…substituting ‘cuteness’ or ‘adorability’ for a lack of knowledge and experience just doesn’t cut it at this level.
All that said, I still wonder how Republicans would have reacted to Joe Biden if HE had stated he wasn’t going to answer the questions and was going to talk about what he wanted to talk about instead?
