It is a highly moral piece of legislation: the people most affected will be the working poor and lower middle class, people who have jobs, often at small businesses, but don’t have health care. (The unemployed and unemployable poor already have health care via Medicaid.) It is a matter of simple fairness that if we, as a society, provide health insurance to those who don’t work, we also provide it to those who do.

What world do you live in? Medicaid has been full for a while and the people who should be getting it are not. As far as working class people benefiting from the new “law”, our benefits have significantly decreased, while our deductibles and premiums have increased significantly. The only way this will work is, if people pay for insurance they can’t use because the deductible is too high, in turn funding all those other people who are getting their insurance paid for by our outrageous premiums. In essence, we are paying for everyone while our own insurance is essentially denied. There is no such thing as a $500 deductible any longer and, I bet, the $1000 deductible will be gone by January 2014.
