Three incumbent politicians lost to members of their own parties in the primary elections yesterday:
- Sen. Joe Lieberman lost in the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont, 48 percent to 52 percent. (However Sore-loserman will run as an “independent Democrat” for the Senate against Lamont in November.)
- Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney lost to Hank Johnson in a trounce, 59 percent to 41 percent. Lesson here: Don’t embarrass your constituents.
- Michigan Republican Rep. Joe Schwarz lost to Tim Walberg 55 percent to 45 percent.
