Is it just me, or has anyone noticed gas prices down, just as the CIA leak investigation is about to break, and just as the 2000th Iraq war troop died? I’d like to say that, like terror alerts, all these events are unrelated but since oil companies posted record profits in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I don’t think so.
Pundits say that Trump’s $5,000 midterm bribe was an overreach,
And they agree that if lies were a crime, he’d be impeached.
Despite all the dividend promises he’s made,
The fact is, not one has ever been paid,
So even before the midterms, he already owes us $8,000* each.

As reasonable as it may sound that Bush may be behind a recent lowering of gas prices, the reality may well be that oil companies are looking to back away from the ‘petro-shock threshold’ where people say ‘screw it…I’m trading in the SUV for a 4-cylinder, digging out the bike and buying a metropass’. Despite corporo-conservatives usual distaste for ‘real competition’, sometimes ‘market forces’ really do decide.
