A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll conducted after President Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin finds 64% of Americans don’t think President Trump has been tough enough on Russia, including 47% of Republicans. “As to whether Trump should view Putin as a friend or foe, Americans are nearly evenly split, with 45% saying he should be seen as an enemy and 44% saying he is an ally. That might be a surprise to those who grew up in the Cold War era, but partisanship might have something to do with it. Among GOP voters, 58% view the Russian leader as an ally.”

A new Quinnipiac poll finds that 38% of voters approve of how President Trump is doing his job. However, among white voters without a college degree, 49% said they approved. While that approval rate is high compared to other demographic groups, it’s a significant drop from just last month when 57% approved of Trump’s performance.

A new Quinnipiac poll finds that American voters believe 51% to 35% “that the Russian government has compromising information about President Trump.” However, Republicans don’t believe by 70% to 18% that there is compromising information — the only listed party, gender, education, age or racial group which does not believe it.

“The White House plans to announce on Tuesday a plan to extend $12 billion in emergency aid to farmers caught in the midst of President Trump’s escalating trade war, two people briefed on the plan said, the latest sign that growing tensions between the United States and other countries will not end soon,” the Washington Post reports. ”The funds will come through direct assistance, a food purchase and distribution program, and a trade promotion program.”

“The Trump administration may have already deported as many as 463 migrant parents who were separated from their children at the U.S.-Mexico border, and they may have lost their right to reunification, Justice Department lawyers said in a court filing on Monday,” NBC News reports. “Those parents may not be eligible to be reunified with their children, according to the filing, which grouped parents not in the U.S. as either potentially eligible or not eligible.”

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that 71% of American voters believe that the decision, which established a woman’s legal right to an abortion, should not be overturned. Just 23% say the ruling should be reversed. “That’s the highest level of support for the decision — and the lowest share of voters who want Roe v. Wade overturned — in the poll’s history dating back to 2005. In 1989, according to Gallup’s survey, 58% said they believed it should stay in place while 31% disagreed.”
