Tea Party Targeting 87 Republican Lawmakers

Number of Republicans who voted for the deal in late October to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling who now are being targeted by a tea party group that has launched a campaign to support primary challenges against all 87 of them, according to Buzzfeed.

Percentage points by which Dick Cheney’s daughter Liz is trailing extreme right wing Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi in the latest polling on their primary race. Enzi’s 69% to 17% lead over Cheney now is a 12 point bump up from August when he led her by 40 points, 61% to 21%. The poll also found that Enzi had a 79% favorability rating while Cheney’s favorability was underwater, 29% to 37%.

The situation is dire alright—arguably the worst moment of Obama’s five-year tenure. But the Hawaiian Houdini still has one thing going for him, and that’s the uncanny tendency of some of his Republican enemies to turn opportunities into calamities. And none is more adept at this party trick than Darrell Edward Issa, the San Diego loudmouth whose House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a public hearing today, which backfired almost immediately.
