Here’s clip of Keith Olbermann doing sports at KCBS in 1989, which was also when we moved to Los Angeles. I’m no sports fan, but Keith somehow made some of it seem almost interesting.
One bit of Olbermann trivia: He doesn’t drive. Contrary to myth, you can live in Los Angeles without driving, but as it is in most places, it’s a lot easier to live here with a car.
And here’s some trivia about the clip. The anchor who introduces Keith is Bree Walker, who later became a liberal radio host. Her co-anchor is Jim Lampley, whom she would later marry and divorce. Lampley is best known for anchoring coverage of the Olympics.
I could have never guessed back then that Olbermann, the sports guy on Channel 2, was a passionate progressive who would one day host the number one liberal news hour on cable.
