Watch Out in Florida, Sen. Marco Rubio – Gov. Scott Supports Giving Authorities Power to Demand Proof of U.S. Citizenship from Latinos

Florida’s Republican Sen.-Elect Marco Rubio had better make sure he doesn’t leave home without documents proving he is a U.S. citizen when he returns to Florida from D.C. next year.

His state’s GOP Gov.-Elect Rick Scott says he backs legislation that empowers authorities to demand proof of U.S. citizenship from Latinos and others who are detained or arrested:

“We need to come up with an immigration policy that works for the country,” he said. “Finally, if you’re stopped in our state — no different than if you’re asked for your ID — you should be able to be asked if you’re legal or not.”

Under the proposed law, police and other authorities would not be allowed to detain or arrest people solely on grounds that they look Hispanic suspicious.

  1. To live on my Social Security I spend a lot of time in 3rd world countries. Also, a small amount of time in Europe.

Everywhere that I go I have to have proof of being “legally” in the country at all times.

I have a 12 month visa for Thailand but I still have to report to Immigration every 90 days and submit my address. And I either carry my passport or a copy of the relevant pages at all times.

Most countries have National ID cards and require that they be carried at all times that you are more than a couple of hundred yards from your home.

I just don’t see the problem. Some people are trying to make this out as a racist thing. It isn’t, it is what is done in most countries in the world. We should have been doing it decades ago.

BTW, there are also huge numbers of east Europeans illegally in this country. The law applies to them as well as the illegal central and south americans. The hispanics are rightly being targetted because there are 10’s of millions of them illegally in this country.

If you want to come into the USA then obey the laws. That’s what I do when I go to other countries!!!
