If You Don’t Like Being Called Tea Baggers…

Here’s an alternative that would be just as apt:

There’s one born every minute, apparently.

Seriously, tea party folks, you can’t routinely call people names — you know, like socialist Muslim Nazi fascist, especially when none of them are true — and then complain about name calling.

It wasn’t your critics who showed up at rallies with tea bags stapled to their hats. It wasn’t your critics who exhorted their compatriots to “tea bag the White House” and “tea bag Congress.”

You claim you did not know that “tea bagging” had a frat-boy sexual connotation. And yet within a month after your first rallies in early 2009, your movement was co-opted by the Koch brothers, other billionaires and corporate donors. Their overpaid minions at FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity and Russo Marsh and Rogers — Dick Armey and his ilk — are all decadent, superannuated frat boys. They must have, or at least should have, known about the off-color association with the “tea bagger” brand. Blame your puppeteers, not your critics for the ridicule you rightly deserve.

It seems like just yesterday that conservatives railed against political correctness and the cult of victimhood. Now, since the advent of the Palinistas, you have become the biggest whiners demanding political correctness and complainers about your own victimhood on the planet.

Finally, here’s the thing about name calling — we all learned this in grade school: If you can’t take it, don’t dish it out.

  1. I’m invited to a zombie-themed Halloween party, and I’m planning to go as a zombie tea bagger. In addition to stapling tea bags to a red, white, and blue hat, I’m going to carry a sign that says, “Eat a brain moran!”
