9/11 Protest: Bible-Burning Mosque Vows to Proceed Without Permit … Oh, Wait…

art-biprble-buprningReligion News Service:

Fire officials in Gainesville, Fla., have denied a permit to a church that wants to burn Qurans on Sept. 11, but church officials said they’ll go ahead with the protest that has garnered worldwide attention.

Leaders of the Dove World Outreach Center say “Islam is of the Devil” and plan to burn copies of the Islamic holy book on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Gene Prince, interim chief of Gainesville Fire Rescue, told The Gainesville Sun that he informed the church on Tuesday (Aug. 17) that the protest violates local fire-prevention laws, which include rules against burning corrugate cardboard or office paper, which includes books.

“It wouldn’t matter what the book is they’re burning,” Deputy Chief Tim Hayes told the newspaper.

  1. How would these “good Christians” react if, on every Holocaust Commemoration Day, Jews burned copies of the New Testament?

  2. Lets look at this from a psychological point of view. One attack on America (9 years ago!) and look what happens, look at the hatred, anger and the desperation of the American people, even until now.
Now imagine this is happening to the American people on a daily basis for the last 6 to 7 years.

  3. Rumor has it the Dove World Outreach Center is actually a spinoff of the KuKluxKlan Pay no attention to their antics, when they’re done they’ll head back to their swamps, drink beer till they pass out and wake up spooning their cousins.

  4. I’m not christian or muslim, but I’ll be burning bibles on 9/11. I’m tired of those hypocrites that want to force their beliefs on others, but can’t even follow it themselves.

  5. Found this searching for an actual bible burning counter protest. I’m respectfully non-religious and something deep inside me detests burning any book, “holy” or not, but I don’t want to hear a freaking peep outta these freaks when I light up Mathew, Mark, John, and Luke tonight. If you think burning a Quran is cool, you have no right to bitch about your book being burned.

  6. There is a stand against Muslims because (in case we have totally become so boring and apathetic we forgot) Muslims plotted and hijacked four planes 9 years ago and decided with great passion to kill thousands of people just like you, me, your family, your friends and your co-workers. Look at your child sleeping or your wife fixing dinner or your coworkers making a living and imagine it was them on that plane or in that building and tell me that we should just accept that and pretend everything is alright. Maybe unfairly Muslims have become a scapegoat for the war action carried out by some radicals. Christians have been persecuted for hundreds of years because of the actions of some of their radicals! Muslims are 100 times more intolerant than Christians related to homosexuality and all of the other issues that seem important yet we so quickly consider this a hate crime when bibles are already being burned worldwide every day and no one says a word.

  7. Sigh…. Even my 4 year old nephew is capable of grasping the concept that two wrongs don’t make a right. So much for atheist being intellectuals.
