Dead-enders: According to the new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll, while almost two-thirds of Americans (60 percent) no longer believe the war in Iraq is worth fighting, fully three-quarters of Republicans remain convinced that America should stay in the middle of Iraq’s sectarian civil war:
[Only about] one-fourth of Republicans said they did not believe the war was worth fighting, and a roughly equal number opposed the troop increase.
Even more alarming is the fact that a whopping 39 percent of Americans still approve of the job performance of George W. Bush, whose incompetence has been extraordinary by any rational standard.
In its analysis of these numbers, the Times, like most in the Traditional Media, focuses on the fact that support is diminishing slightly for the president and his war. But as long as Bush and his advisers know they have even this meager level of support they will continue to pursue their disastrous course in Iraq. By focusing on occasional slight drops in approval ratings, the media overlook the threat to our national security posed by this blind, cult-like devotion to Pres. Bush by a third of U.S. citizens.
We must overwhelm these morons by making our voices heard. Write your legislators, write your newspapers, organize and participate in anti-war rallys. WE are in the majority on this issue. Let’s not give anyone an excuse to ignore us!

Actually, that’s about right. Being a Republican Bush worshipper is essentially a tribal identity. It can’t be undermined by facts, logic, or morality.
After as much evidence of Bush’s incompetence, corruption, stupidity and sociopathology has been demonstrated anyone who still supports Bush is either a fool or a fascist. There is hope for the fools if we could regain some balance in the media. The fascists will not change. They are very dangerous. They are enemies of democracy, world peace, and our environment. They must be exposed for what they are.
Draft Republicans. Make them pay the price.

As I have said on many occasions, our horrific mistake in invading Iraq was as much a failure of the Fourth Estate and the failure of our people to demand a more objective and intellectually honest assessment in the run up to the war.
Americans daily worship at the Alter of Ignorance. I recently had an epiphany about our national disease. I’ve always wondered why people aren’t horribly embarrassed that they are so eager to voice strong opinions about things that they know nothing and have not bothered to research. Then I realized why. They are and have always BEEN surrounded by morons who are ALSO so eager to voice strong opinions about things that they know nothing and have not bothered to research. Group and individual stupidity is normalized in America. It feels like home to our fellow citizens whose intellectual curiousity and docility compare unfavorably with most domesticated farm animals. MOO.

Yet another example of how American media tries to sway the public opinion by revealing that *GASPS* people and even *GASP* civilians die in a little thing called war?! no way!
Always the deaths and never the smiles is what they show. Take it from someone who has been there.
Honestly. What type of freedom in this world, whether ours or any other country’s was ever obtained without people dying in the process? You let me know.
Those who oppose the war just thought that it would be a quick job…Desert Storm-style. They’re just too impatient to see the benefits of the long-term effects of reaching a goal of peace in Iraq.
I remember a magazine cover I saw during the 2004 Republican convention. It depicted a woman clutching a copy of the anti-Kerry book, “Unfit for Command†as if it were the Holy Bible itself. She had an almost ecstatic look on her face as if awestruck just to be part of the convention to pay homage to the Great Leader. Her brainwashing was complete and all logic and reason were nullified.
This scene so reminded me of observations I have made over the years at some fundamentalist churches. The Busheviks are so intertwined with the extreme religious right that they have taken many pages from their play book on mind control. That is what it is, mind control. The Busheviks have used it deftly to distort the truth and divert public attention away from the real issues. The media seem to have fallen into this same trap.
Wrong! Most of us supported clearing the Taliban out of Afghanistan. But we opposed going into Iraq because Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. In fact, al Qaeda and the other fundamentalists hated Saddam as much as they hate the US and the Saudis. It was an unprovoked war in a part of the world that most Americans — including our current president — don’t understand, and never will.
We never believed it would be over quickly but rather feared, once started, it would never end.

Please recall that we were told by those who pushed for the Iraq war that it would be a cakewalk and we would be greeted as liberators.
And then we invaded and soon the incredible series of mistakes began, a level of incompetence hard to comprehend. It’s not that we always thought it would be fast. We were told it would be, and then we saw it bungled and got angry and disgusted.
Our role in this war is over.
