Terror Alert Raised
British police said early this morning they have thwarted a plot to blow up aircraft in mid-flight, arresting a number of people in the London area.
Police said the aim of the plot was to detonate bombs smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
“A major terrorist plot to allegedly blow up aircraft in mid-flight has been disrupted,” a police spokesman said.
He said police believes that the intention was particularly to target flights from Britain to the U.S. Police had arrested a number of people in London during the night.
The United States on Thursday raised its terror threat level after British police said they had arrested more than 20 suspects in a major terrorist plot to blow up passenger jets flying between the United Kingdom and the United States.
The U.S. threat level has been raised to the highest level of “severe,” or red, for commercial flights originating in the United Kingdom bound for the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
News conferences by top Bush officials are scheduled to start immediately, and we can expect the administration to take full credit for the British investigations.

Looks like the Bush neocons are once again ramping up their “look out, it’s the boogeyman” campaign just like they did in the 2004 election.
Again, they’ll do their best to scare the holy hell out of people so they’ll be fooled again into voting for the current congressional war criminals, most of whom are Republicans.
