Ready. Fire! Aim: Bush worshipers are already trying to make opposition to the president’s deal to allow the sale of major East Coast ports to his crony, the Emir of Dubai who owns Dubai Ports World, a Democrats versus Dear Leader fight.
But the opposition to the sale is dominated by Republicans, including:
- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who sent an email to supporters yesterday that said, “As of today, I’m requesting briefings on this deal. If the Administration does not put the deal on hold, I will introduce legislation doing so … to ensure that this decision gets a more thorough review. Common sense warrants it; our national security requires it.”
- House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who said, “We must not allow the possibility of compromising our national security due to lack of review or oversight by the federal government.”
- Gov. George Pataki of New York
- Gov. Robert Erlich of Maryland
- Senators Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Richard Shelby of Alabama and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
- Members of the House including Homeland Security chairman Peter King of New York, Mark Foley of Florida and Vito Fosella of New York
It was not a Democrat but Sen. Graham who said,”It’s unbelievably tone deaf politically at this point in our history. Most Americans are scratching their heads, wondering why this company from this region now?”

This is really sad. I am sorry to say, but all this “ruckus” about stopping this port deal is NOT because our “dear” senators care about America, security, and etc…it is because their financial backers…who happen to be American Jewish Lobbies do not approve of an Arab coutry having any influence in America or the Whitehouse. It is as simple as that, American Jews who financially back our COngressmen are pushing them into stopping this deal. To them, an Arab organization gaining influence in the Whitehouse and the American Lobby is a threat to their dominance. Had our Congressmen really CARED about our “security and safety”, they would have stopped Bush’s march to war. If they can stop a port deal, then why didnt they try to stop the war deal?
I also am encouragin a healthy discussion on this matter to see what everyone else out there thinks. Please reply with civility. Thanks
Another good point to show is that how come all of a sudden, Bush’s hardline Republican Supporters in Congress, and other Republican states are suddenly firing at him? It is because they all know that Bush’s fleet of ships are sinking and that his term is almost over. Point being, is that if Bush sucks, why are we going to “suck” wth him. We “best” listen to who is paying our checks…the AIPAC- American Israeli Public Affairs Committee..Yep, I said it..they are the ones in control of our Congress and it aint a lie, just look at the expenditures spread sheet they have for all of our congressmen…
IMPEACH1
I’m not sure I believe Bush (can you believe that?) when he says (anything) that he just learned about the port deal over the weekend. It is too, too coincidental that he appointed tow high level admin officials that both had close ties with DPW. Either he appointed them with a quid pro quo of some sort in mind, or someone else is totally running the show. Neither would surprise me.
Let’s see. Blatant anti-Semitism or at least anti-Zionism, and he or she asks for politeness. Isn’t the mark of a true American his or her tolerance? The reason that all these Republicans are opposing this is that their polls are even worse than the mainstream media have been telling us, and this is how they expect to run for reelection. It has nothing to do with an unelected cabal running the government, sorry. I know how so-called true Americans love conspiracy theories.
Perhaps the next bush project should be to grant responsibility for aviation security to the UAE.
It is still galling to remember that the National Security function of aviation “security” was left to the bottom liners at airline companies rather than the United States Government.
Now let’s examine what bush et al have learned from “9-11” (that is, beyond any consideration of the extent to which “9-11” has been the Key to implementing the bushite agenda across the swath of what is euphemistically referred to as “policy”)…..
The apparent “lesson” is that, 4 years after “9-11”, bush has determined that “national security” functions can now not only be granted to private businesses who put a priority on “cost analysis” over actual security, but to foreign businesses who, in addition to their attention to the “bottom line”, may quite possibly be corrupted by their own regional “politics”.
And more ironic to bushites…..the UAE company at issue is STATE OWNED.
“Oh President bush, may we please have state owned industries Here in the USA just like our friends in the UAE have in their country” ?
May we, Sire” ?

Hey “DAVE IN NORTHRIDGE”
First off, you use what the rest of the media uses when a Jew is attacked…anti-semitism..I am not anti-semitic. I have Orthodox Jewish friends who beleive the same. No way in hell would I ver be Anti-semitic.
Second of all, True Jews do not beleiv in Zionism. Zionism is not Judaism in the least bit. Zionism is to Judaism as is AL-Qaeda is to Islam as the KKK is to Christianity. They share no parrallels, right? RIGHT. Zionism is a terrorist movement made up in the 1880’s. It beleived that the Ashkenazi Jewish race was superior to others and that it would accomplish its so called dream of an Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates at any cost whatsoever. even if it means sending millions to war and such.
Third of all, The stats show it. the AIPAC is in fact the strongest and spends the most in Washington. They put o much money in, that they get whatever they want. I mean, go tell a senator one day to talk against Israel. He will shit in his pants. He knows that first, he will lose financial backing and that he will be pulled out of office soon. Whetehr it be a scandal or he gets a media blitz against him when election time comes…
Just read the fact.,..they are there…
It isn’t October, but…
A much easier way than another 9/11 to turn the tide and ensure the republicans keep their congressional majority and possibly pick up a few more seats from the wimpy democrats.
Anyone who pays attention knows how republicans fall on their (rubber of course) swords for the good of the party. Bush has nothing to lose at this point. He’ll rattle his sabres for a time, and when we’re all scared to death the Arabs are going to take over the country, he’ll be overwhelmed by his party, and “forced” to fall on his. Come 2008, the party will have gotten back on track, and goodbye dems.
Then too….
This port deal will also be a good way to get our minds off having our phones and e-mails monitored.
Try this one: Republicans against Bush? Could the reason be re-election and holding on to the base that are so against this?
It seems to me there are two sources of hatred in the world’
1 Money
2 Religion
I have many poor irreligious friends who don’t seem to hate anyone But my religious or wealthy friends all seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Both money and religion seem to breed fear, fear of hell or fear of others taking away their money. And fearful people are dangerous people.
blessed indeed are the poor They are finally inheriting the earth in S America. We look on in horror at the behaviour of the wealthy. I forever remember the movie The Queen of hearts.
Does anyone here believe monkey boy did,nt know about this deal until after it was made?Is he setting us up for another attack so he can declare marshall law and put the november elections on hold? Why does he bristle when questioned about this scam?Does the UAE know something about this asshat that we don’t?This whole thing stinks worse than their explanation for 9/11 which is a fucking joke at best.

Don’t let the republicans off the hook here. They are pretending to be separate from Bush but most of the REpublicans above have simply been enablers of the Saudis and only oppose this deal because of public pressure.
We MUST run ads linking almost every republican in the country to the Taliban and Bin laden for what these repugs have done over the past 5 yrs.
Why does the United Arab Emirates need to control
our ports?
Why cant Americans control our ports?
while the first blush of this looks very bad, the situation may be very complicated. Leherer’s pbs show had a person calling Bush very weak on security, was also saying that this is not the problem. That the Company is as able to control security as Niger is able to control it’s “yellowcake”.
Complexity, much less nonbigotry are not things “Dittoheads” do well. This can be another “Harriet Miers” lose-lose for Republicans. Democrats should do as they did with Miers, demand more time and information, but otherwise sit back with the popcorn.
Democratic points about the general problems of world domination by giant Corporations are valid but in this case only muddy a good fight, and can’t get any traction in this case anyway.
THe only down side is that it takes focus from other Republican corruption and ineptness.
Bush’s ship is sinking… The sailors or in this case the Republicans want to get off the ship before it entirely under water. This is there way of telling america: VOTE FOR US, we still care for you, even though we knew BUSH and CO never did care about you. Just one more chance, please. please throw us the life jackets. That is basically what they ar doing. They know Bush’s fleet of ships is going down and thts it….thy know that it is over so they need to distance themselves from their own failures.
Not that I like GW, but why arent we roasting the people who approved this deal, OR is GW just lying again.
This deal has only been postponed. This is about money and they all like money way better than national security.
I really love the irony though. Bush spends years making Americans very afraid of Arabs and then calls them prejudiced when they oppose Arabs running our ports.
The sweeter irony; Bush tells us that government should leave business to the more efficient private sector and now he wants a foreign gov’t to run our ports. I guess he meant it’s okay for a government to run a business as long as it’s not OUR government.
