Message: I Don’t Care
Left: President Bush plays a guitar presented to him by Country singer Mark Wills, right, backstage after the president gave a speech in San Diego.
Right: Meanwhile, flood waters are rising in the city of New Orleans, where thousands of people are homeless. Fires are burning throughout the city, and looting has been reported in the Central Business District and beyond. Emergency services are stretched past capacity. Food and potable water are scarce. In counties along the Gulf Coast of the Deep South, millions are without power. Property damage from the storm is projected to be greater than Hurricane Andrew, the previously most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history.
Rock on, George!

Wake up America…your President is the worst kind of idiot…the dangerous kind.

Many of us in US know he’s an idiot and dangerous – but many do not. You see, our media never reports stuff like this… We only get celebrity news, car chases and other nonsense. We’ve never seen one casket come back from Iraq, rarely see any real war images, and never criticism of the president. It’s awful. It’s what happens when TV and radio is owned by wealthy media conglomerates.
Stu from Oz,
Many Americans were awake and many have awakened and we are lying in a pool of flop sweat and fear as we watch a determined gang of loonies try to enforce their reactionary ways on the world.
It seems as if a revolution is our only hope, but Americans don’t want to revolt in this land of the couch potato.
I’m not so sure what he could have done that would have been better…come on he’s an ineffective idiot to the nth degree so if he tried to do anything worthwile he would have made the situation worse somehow someway.
I guess he finished his book on goats…
I remember an old saying in the Navy “The torpedo has to run its course.” and this we see with GWB and the American people. We can not blame this all on the media. People are supposed to have brains and be able to see, instead they have been bought just like the media. Big promises of how well off they will be after the tax breaks and how those people on welfare need a job and so lets take more money away from them. Give them an incentive to get to work. Oh, lets ship more jobs out of the country to give companies more profits.
YES! The people have been bought just like a two bit whore. And they listen to a two bit doper as a president that cheated his way through life.
The TV & Print media in the US are brain dead; these “journalists” live in some kind of evil parrallel universe along with the morons who inhabit the White House. To Stu in Australia: I am awake & have been totally aware of the evil oozing from George Bush’s pores. But at this time in our history, the freaks in Jesusland are running the show! The world has a front row seat to view the rise of fascism in this country. And I believe the laws of karma will exact a heavy payment from us…..
He is so out of touch, he doesn’t even know when to pretend to be compassionate anymore.
If nothing else, his timing couldn’t have been much worse. He surely HAD to know there would be people HOPING for a picture like this they could juxtapose against pictures of the devastation of Katrina. He either wasn’t thinking or just truly doesn’t care.
Obviously, the month of August and Commander-Coo-Coo Bananas-in Chief just don’t mix well..or maybe God is finally telling old Coo-Coo to stop vacationing?
I live in the USA. I used to be proud to say that. Bush and his entire neocon administration have destroyed this country economicly, broke the national treasury, drove the entire world to hate us by launching an illegal war of choice based on lies (killing 100,000+ innocent Iraqi civilians). This country (USA) to coin a phrase from Mr 5 deferments Cheney, is in it’s last throes.
Every country in the world should refuse to do business with the USA , no trade, no anything. Simply turn your back on us, we deserve nothing.
I am sorry for all the bloodshed caused by our nations childlike President.
To Deborah,
I do apologise for tainting all Americans with the same brush. I know there are millions of open minded Americans out there who hate Bush and all he stands for. Australia has it’s own conservative leader who has blindly followed Bush and sent out troops to Afganistan and Iraq. The only difference is your idiot is so much more powerful and influential than ours.
Stu from Australia
Just another example of the callousness of this pyschopath and the inability of brainwashed Americans to hold him to accountability. The LA National Guard would be there not in Iraq were it not for him and the 70 million cut from New Orleans preparedness would have likely helped comabt the damage.
Actually Bush is close to his role model Nero, in that the emperor did not actually fiddle, but played the lute, a strummed instrument. Illiterate, but Bush is true to history.
Is he playing a g chord? Looks like he’s flipping us off again.
I suppose an alternative headline might be “Shrub Strums while South Suffers.”
What’s surprising to me is that he can remember how to play a perfect G chord.
Hypothetical question: How long do you think it would have taken Bill Clinton to get to New Orleans to survey the damage and offer words of hope and encouragement?
My guess is he’d been there at daylight the next day.
Is he playing a g chord? Looks like he’s flipping us off again.

He’s playing a 2nd position G maj chord but he’s playing it in the wrong position (3rd).
These photos do show the contrast. Bush got all concerned about 15-year brain dead Terri Schaivo and left his vacation. But with perhaps hundreds dead and million(s) displaced from the hurricane, his just plays his new guitar.
As for the will of the American people, it seems from reading Mark Crispin Miller’s excellent article in the August Harpers’ Magazine, there is solid reason to believe that for a second election in a row the one who the people voted for did not get their votes counted properly. So I do think that US citizens had figured out Bush and Co. by November 2004. But what not enough had figured out was the multi-faceted will to power these people possess that includes alterning the numbers so their guy comes out ahead, regardless of the votes cast in the ballot booths.
No wonder 38 states had a final tally variance from the exit polls of between 2-10% – and in every case it favoured the Republican. Funny that.
I only hope that in Canada we are smart enough to keep the private companies that want to import electronic voting at bay.
Bush is scum
He’s just following his usual practice of sowing discord.
I am surprised he hasn’t asked for donations to help the oil companys whose rigs have been damaged.
The media are not ineffective; they are doing their job in supporting this gory kleptocracy.Media ownership is in the same hands of the people who run the arms industry, oil corporations and others . They are in a unique opportunity to create the policy which causes a “demand” for their products.
http://www.amerikaos.com/boycottmedia.html displays a very helpful chart for explaining why “things are the way they are NOT”
What I expect from a real President is to ask congress for 87 billion for the reconstruction of those devastated places in La, Miss, and Al.
Lets fix our own people for a change.
George Bush is totally insane and a complete disgrace to this country and the entire world.I absolutely believe that this man is the antichrist!!! I know that might sound crazy to some of you who read this but think about it and it could make sense!!!!
For a couple years or more now, I have been ashamed to be American. I see the profusion of flags decorating buildings, cars and web sites. I see the people burying their heads in the sand, emulating “our great leader.” I bristle at the refusal of good people — my own sister among them — to be insulted and appalled by the lies told to us by Georgie and his minions.
Rock On, George. May there truly be a Hell, for you shall truly wind up there.
Terrific audience at this site. Australia, too!
Rumor is gas prices will jump 50 cents/gallon tomorrow. This is the effect on an industry subsidised by our military and our tax dollars to make certain elite wealthier.
I do recall Aaron Brown News Night (CNN) did show the photographs of coffins draped with American flags. News Night also plays special music during intros with a page of individual memorial to the soldiers who have died. Many of his stories are thoughtful, reflective, informative accounts of the political climate or actualities of war. I try to support the people who speak out.
And please, find your democratic precinct members and get busy everyone.
Oh my God, Bush and a Guitar.
I hope he does not eat a pretzel while trying to play LOL
Bush is a scumbag! What do you expect.
Someone should write a book — “Dumbing Down the Presidency – the Legacy of George W. Bush”
