An occasional series in which we post the contents of propaganda email being circulated by our friends in the conservative minority.
Our right-wing circulating email for today is a bit of agitprop themed around the victimization of Christians by the predominant secular culture.
The writer bemoans the success, limited as it has been, of strict constitutionalists and non-religious people in removing God from the national symbology. At one point, the writer even posits that the murder rate would go down if only Americans returned to saying “so help me, God” before giving sworn testimony.
A vintage piece from 2005, here is “Agree or Delete”:
I don’t care how many times this comes to my e-mail…..I will continue to pass it on…..I am tired of the minority getting their way………………………
May all your days be happy……

Me? I’m Passing It On.
It seems to get worse daily.
This is by a daughter of a murdered couple in Raytown, MO, who had a Bible and Bookstore on 63rd street.
Wait! Wasn’t Raytown the setting for the Vicky Lawrence sitcom, “Mama’s Family?” Clever. Know your audience.
Just one more example:
When I had to testify at the murder trial of my parents a week ago, I was asked to raise my right hand. The bailiff started out “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?”
“The murder trial of my parents?” Oh, never mind.
I stood there and waited but she said nothing. She said “Do you?”
I was so stunned I blurted out “What happened to “so help me God’?”
She came back with “Do you?” I replied yes, but I was perplexed.
Then the judge said . “You can say that if you want to.”
I stopped, raised my right hand, and finished with “So help me God!”
I told my son and daughter that when it came time for them to testify, they should do the same.
It’s no wonder we have so many problems in this country. If I’d had my wits about me I’d have told them that taking God out of the courtroom is only going to result in more criminals and murderers.
In other words, if we all say the magic words, “So help me God,” it would depress the murder rate.
I don’t know what can be done about it, but it’s time for us to step up and DO something.
NBC this morning had a poll on this question.. They had the highest number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the percentage was the same as this:
86 percent to keep the words, 14 percent against. That is a pretty ‘commanding’ public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn’t.
Now it is your turn… It is said that 86 percent of Americans believe in God.
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having “In God We Trust” on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Why is the world catering to this 14 percent?
If you agree, pass this on, if not, simply delete….
In God We Trust
Snopes.com says the poll referred to here was an online poll — so totally and absolutely unscientific — from 2005 (and that is still live on their site) that came out 80 percent “yes,” but that is now up to 89 percent “yes.” There was also an unscientific online CNBC poll that asked the same question and got similar results.
Interestingly, the nationwide murder rate has been falling since 2005, around the time that this email went into circulation.
Coincidence? You be the judge.

Thanks for this great essay on the mind and emails of the evil fundamental christians. They are very clever, but never honest.
Jon, check out the articles on Sarah Palin’s church in Wassilla, Alaska. Whatever happened to good old fashioned Christians like my parents who believed in the Golden Rule and never guarded against witches.
