Not every human problem deserves a law.

Jerry Brown (D)explaining, in part, why he vetoed a law passed by the Democratic-controlled legislature that would have imposed criminal sanctions on parents of children under 18 years old who were caught skiing or snowboarding without a helmet. He also said, “While I appreciate the value of wearing a ski helmet, I am concerned about the continuing and seemingly inexorable transfer of authority from parents to the state.”
