Last week the New York Times had an above-the-fold, front-page article that seemed to suggest that one of the Clintons is being unfaithful. Following the NYT’s lead, now the Globe has a cover story speculating about trouble in the Bush marriage.

It makes sense. George Bush is a spoiled, weak aristocrat who’s used to lying with impunity and getting his way no matter what. It must be frustrating for him now that America has tuned him out. It would be perfectly in character for him to start drinking again and losing his temper at the drop of the hat.

Of course, like the New York Times article this is nothing but rank speculation and gossip. I wonder if Chris Matthews will spend two hours on this story like he did on the Clintons.

This is as plausible as Jewish retirees in Palm Beach turning out in droves for a fascist-empathizer like Pat Buchanan:

Rocker Marilyn Manson feels partly responsible for George W Bush winning the US presidential election in 2000.

In an interview with US talk show host Tucker Carlson at the time, the controversial rocker sarcastically condemned Democrat candidate Al Gore and told his fans to vote Bush.

Manson says: “He won by such a small amount, and particularly because it was in Florida.

“Who’s to say there weren’t a couple of our fans who took my sarcasm seriously and voted for him?”

Or maybe the retirees were Manson fans.
