Cruz: Obama’s Not a ‘Distaster’ Because He was a Senator

Obama is not a disaster because he was a senator. Obama is a disaster because he’s an unmitigated socialist, what he believes is profoundly dangerous, and he’s undermined the Constitution and the role of America in the world.

— Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), saying that the only reason that pundits say the GOP needs to run a governor for president, not a senator, wi that “most of the establishment moderates” in the field were governors, reports David Weigel.

Cheney Accuses Obama of Trying to Take Down America

I vacillate between the various theories I’ve heard, but you know, if you had somebody as president who wanted to take America down, who wanted to fundamentally weaken our position in the world and reduce our capacity to influence events, turn our back on our allies and encourage our adversaries, it would look exactly like what Barack Obama’s doing.

— Former Vice President Dick Cheney, accusing President Obama of trying to “take America down,” Politico reports. He added: “I think his actions are constituted in my mind those of the worst president we’ve ever had.”

Majority of Republicans Think Obama is a Muslim

54%

Of Republicans said that “Muslim” best described what President Obama “believes deep down,” according to Alex Theodoridis, writing in the Washington Post. Thirty percent of Republicans answered the way Gov. Scott Walker did, by selecting “I don’t know.” Only 9% selected “Christian” to describe what Obama likely believes. Interestingly, only 45% of Democrats chose “Christian,” while 17% said “spiritual,” 10% said “Muslim,” and 26% said they didn’t know.

Louisiana Lawmaker Says Obama Defended ISIS

I was very disappointed, although not surprised. The president has said many things that just seem so unpresidential, and this was no exception. … Not only did he vilify Christianity, but he actually made a case to defend radical Islam, that’s killing people around the world. He actually defended what they were doing, and tried to draw some sort of twisted equivalency, moral equivalency, between what they’re doing today and what Crusaders did 800 years ago. It really, it was really weird.

— Rep. John Fleming (R-LA), asserting that President Obama’s speech to the National Prayer Breakfast last week in which he drew a historical comparison between atrocities committed by Islamic State fighters and past “terrible deeds in the name of Christ” were “unpresidential” and actually defended ISIS, BuzzFeed reports.

Giuliani: Obama Encourages Hatred of Police

We’ve had four months of propaganda starting with the president that everybody should hate the police. The protests are being embraced, the protests are being encouraged. The protests, even the ones that don’t lead to violence, a lot of them lead to violence, all of them lead to a conclusion: The police are bad, the police are racist. That is completely wrong.

— Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, asserting that President Obama has encouraged people to “hate the police” in the wake of two New York City police officers being assassinated, The Hill reports.

GOP Trots Out the Old ‘Amnesty’ Chestnut in Response to Obama Immigration Threats

This president has been floating the trial balloon on executive amnesty for a long time. Today, new details surfaced that the president plans to attempt amnesty as early as next Friday, sending us into a constitutional crisis.

— Rep. Steve King (R-IA), quoted by The Hill, on President Obama using executive action to make immigration changes.
