Meet U.S. Rep. John Delaney, Our Next President?
Dog years, short as they are, are longer than election years in the American system. And since the 2020 presidential race is just around the corner in “election years,” it’s time to start getting to know our candidates. Here is U.S. Rep. John Delaney (D – Md.), who is emerging as a pretty strong voice.
Check out this “Why I’m Running” video, and if you like what you see, find out more. Visit his campaign website, where you’ll discover that Delaney is not afraid to name his favorite Springsteen song. You can also follow his Congressional feed or his presidential candidate feed on Twitter.
Dems Have a Better Than Even Chance to Win Senate
60%
The Upshot’s new Senate election forecast gives Democrats a 60% chance of winning control of the chamber in November. Included within this 60 percent is a 17% chance that the Senate ends up evenly split with a Democratic vice president providing the tie-breaking vote.
13 Percent Choose “Giant Meteor” Over Trump or Clinton
A recent Public Policy Poll gave respondents a way around either of the major parties’ presumptive nominees for president.
The third option offered over Donald Trump (R-Egomaniacal Nutjob) or Hillary Clinton (D-…well, you know) was Giant Meteor Hitting the Earth.
And Giant Meteor Hitting the Earth took 13 percent.
Here was the exact question:
If the choices for President were Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump, and a Giant Meteor hitting the earth which would you choose?
Feel the Stalk?
Is it just me, or is the relationship between Bernie and the Democratic party starting to get that ex-boyfriend that is turning into a stalker vibe?

Democrats REALLY Don’t Like Donald Trump
minus 70
Donald Trump’s net favorable rating of -70 among Democrats, according to a new Gallup survey — “by far the worst image of any major Republican candidate among Democrats and independents.” The next GOP candidates rated most negatively among Democrats are Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee, with net favorable ratings of -37 and -34, respectively.
Republican Likely Voters Well Behind Dems for 2016
9 points
Difference in the percentage of Republicans likely to vote in the 2016 election versus Democrats, compared with a 6-point deficit in the year leading up to Barack Obama’s 2012 victory, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. Key finding: “While the American electorate has become more diverse the last three years, the party’s support among Hispanic likely voters and younger likely voters has shrunk significantly.”
Former Pres. Jimmy Carter Had Some Bad-Ass Friends
Like former Pres. Jimmy Carter himself, his friends seem pretty bad-ass. They put up 500 signs around Plains, Ga., where Carter lives, that said, “Jimmy Carter for Cancer Survivor.”
Of course, the 90-year-old won’t live forever but it’s hard to make the case that he left anything on the field, as the saying goes, and it would be nice if he could.
Carter’s recent press conference announcing that he has metastatic cancer included two wishes for the rest of his time:
- That the last guinea worm, which causes a painful and horrifying disease and which Carter has worked to eradicate, precede him in death.
- That peace is achieved in the Middle East.
Neither outcome is likely, but the wish Carter didn’t make, for a long and happy life, is a done deal.
If Jimmy Carter Had Two Wishes
I’d like for the last guinea worm to die before I do.

WTF? Obama Visits Marc Maron’s Garage
I stay about two years behind in listening to my WTF podcasts. Until today, I never skipped ahead to listen to this or that guest being interviewed by Marc Maron, no matter how big a fan of the person I was, because there is a continuity to the episodes and I prefer to work my way through them the hard way.
That changed today. When I started to sync my iPod before walking the dog this morning, I saw that Marc’s guest for the episode dated 6/22/15 was Pres. Obama. Yes. That Pres. Obama. How could I not listen in real (so to speak, since it’s a podcast) time?
I couldn’t.
