Americans Don’t Trust the Government to Do What’s Right

A new Pew Research poll finds just 17% of Americans now say they trust the federal government to do what is right “just about always” (2%) or “most of the time” (15%). Frustration has long been Americans’ dominant emotion toward the federal government and 49% say they feel frustrated. Another 26% say they are angry, and 23% say they are basically content.
Majority Says Economy Doing Well — Most Since 2008

A new Pew Research survey finds 58% of Americans say the economic situation “is very or somewhat good.” “This is the most positive assessment of U.S. economic conditions since 2007, and only the second time that half or more of those surveyed have given the economy a thumbs-up. Driving the latest increase is a jump among Republicans over the past year.”
Republicans More Optimistic About Their Party

Of Republicans say they are very or somewhat optimistic about the future of the Republican Party, according to Pew Research. “In early November, on the eve of the election, 61% of Republicans expressed optimism about their party’s future. … Democrats’ optimism about their party’s future has declined by a comparable margin over the same period – though a majority (61%) continues to be optimistic. Before the election, 77% of Democrats were optimistic about the party’s future, which is almost identical to the share of Republicans who are upbeat about their party’s now.”
Americans Strongly Support Expansion of Solar Power
89%
Of U.S. adults favor expanding use of solar power, while only 9% oppose it, according to the Pew Research Center. “That sentiment bridges the partisan divide, with large majorities from across the political spectrum favoring more use of this alternative source.”
