The Fate of the World Is in the Hands of a Porn Star

This tawdry state of affairs is visited upon us because millions of Republicans were willingly duped by a conman who is also a notoriously degenerate serial philanderer.

Ironically, these are the same Republicans who appointed themselves the arbiters of family values and the sanctity of marriage in the 1980s and then literally sat in judgment on Bill Clinton’s extramarital dalliances in the 1990s.

But these same Republicans also ignored the fact that when Ronald Reagan married Nancy she was pregnant with Patti — and that he’d lived in sin with Jane Wyman before he married her. And that Newt Gingrich was having an affair with a staffer when he led the impeachment of Clinton for lying about an affair with a staffer. Or that Gingrich’s would-be successor, Bob Livngston, had to drop out after a witness sold photos of him at an orgy to Larry Flynt — and that Newt’s actual successor as speaker, Dennis Hastert, was a a serial pedophile. And on and on and on.

In 2016, these moralist scolds all voted for Trump, a thrice-married adulterer who was caught on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women — and they continue to support him to this day. That says more about them than it does about him.

For regular Americans, the issue here is not Trump’s debauched and decadent sex life; it’s his party’s hypocrisy. It’s shocking that after decades of attacking others for their supposed moral lapses, the GOP now gives Donald Trump, of all people, a “mulligan” for his.

But Stormy Daniels case may ultimately reveal that Trump’s moral lapses also include criminal behavior, including bribery, extortion and campaign finance violations, just for starters.

If so, the reality star may finally have to face “real” reality. And there won’t be mulligans for breaking the law.
