Republocracy in Action
The first time Sergey Kislyak met with Jess Sessions
Was on the sidelines of the Republican Convention.
We might question the wisdom
Of inviting the Russian,
But it’s a program to show ambassadors “democracy in action.”
They Skipped Ethics Class
Looking at Trump’s White House, there’s not much to compliment,
It seems like they go from crisis to emergency to predicament.
But when given the chance,
They said a firm No Thanks
To a course that would have taught them “leadership, ethics and management.”
Trump Has Only $20 Million for Wall
$20 million
President Trump’s “promise to use existing funds to begin immediate construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border has hit a financial roadblock,” according to a document seen by Reuters. “The rapid start of construction, promised throughout Trump’s campaign and in an executive order issued in January on border security, was to be financed, according to the White House, with ‘existing funds and resources’ of the Department of Homeland Security. But so far, the DHS has identified only $20 million that can be re-directed to the multi-billion-dollar project.”
Graham Wants Candidate Tax Returns — in 2020
I think that prospectively what I’ll do is, any candidate running in 2020 needs to release their tax returns. You just make it a law.
— Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), saying he wants all presidential candidates to be required by law to release their tax returns, starting in 2020, Politico reports. He then explained that the law would apply to Trump, “if he’s a candidate for president” in 2020.
Trump’s Congress Address Drew Smaller Audience than Obama’s
52.4 million to 48 million
Hollywood Reporter: “The event predictably topped the night’s few other telecasts, grossing just more than 48 million viewers on 11 networks airing coverage between 9 and 10:15 p.m. ET. On par with early metered market stats, a cumulative 27.8 overnight rating among households, it’s still off from President Barack Obama’s first joint sessions meeting — or even his first State of the Union.”
Good Nominee Advice
When testifying to Congress, make a good impression,
Answer honestly and fully any member’s questions.
Like when you’ve been meeting with Russian spies,
It’s probably inappropriate to tell lies,
Or you’ll wind up in a pickle, like Jeff Sessions.
