Rush Limbaugh: Obama, Acting Through the National Hurricane Center, Tried to Ruin Republican Convention

Flooding in Plaquemines Parish, La. is eerily reminiscent of that other storm that Rush Limbaugh doesn't want us to talk about but the seventh anniversary of it is today

Rush Limbaugh has to be thinking that now would be as good a time as any to retire. His recent assertion that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is conspiring to re-elect the president is all the evidence anyone needs that Rush would probably be happier at home, out of the reach of microphones.

Here’s what Rush said on his show earlier this week:

The hurricane center is the regime. The hurricane center is the Commerce Department. It’s the government. It’s Obama.

And as Obama, the NHC obviously wanted to disrupt the Republican National Convention by forecasting, while Isaac was still a tropical storm south of Haiti, that it could strengthen and threaten the gulf coast of Florida, including Tampa. Just listen to Rush’s version:

OK, 6:45 p.m. Saturday night the Republicans announce that they’re canceling Monday. At 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, everybody is still under the impression that Isaac is making a beeline for very close to Tampa. It was an hour and 15 minutes later that the 8 p.m. model runs showed New Orleans.

I’m alleging no conspiracy. I’m just telling you folks, when you put this all together in this timeline, I’m telling you, it’s unbelievable.

Indeed. But wait, it gets better. The storm itself must have been under Obama’s control because it went and hit New Orleans. And you know what that means. Well, Rush does:

I’m sharing with you my thought process because I know full well that if you give these people the slightest chance and they’re gonna turn this into Katrina and they’re gonna scare the hell out of New Orleans and they’re gonna revive, ‘Bush doesn’t care about people’ and revive all of it.

For the record, Kanye West said, “Bush doesn’t care about BLACK people,” but Rush surely doesn’t want to go there, even as RNC attendees are pelting African-American CNN camerawomen with nuts to show how they “feed the animals.”

So let us refresh your memory, as Isaac hits New Orleans on the seventh anniversary of Katrina.

  • “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” (Kanye West)
  • “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job.” (George Bush)
  • “I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.” (George Bush)
  • “I mean, you have people who don’t heed those warnings and then put people at risk as a result of not heeding those warnings.” (Rick Santorum)
  • Toxic FEMA trailers
  • Bush strumming a guitar as people cling to their rooftops, hoping for rescue
  • Bodies floating in Lake Pontchartrain
