Before his identity was uncovered and Fox News fired him, the “Fox Mole” provided a video to Gawker of an off-air, sotto voce pre-interview conversation between Mitt Romney and Sean Hannity in which they both criticized Pres. Obama’s use of teleprompters and then, literally within seconds, reversed themselves on the subject, with Hannity even agreeing that Romney’s dependence on teleprompters is “smart.”

In the video, Romney, a world-class champion flip-flopper, executes his 180-degree flip on teleprompters in a heart-stopping one-half of a second. It takes Hannity, the slow poke, just five seconds to completely reverse his opinion from being against teleprompters when the president uses them to being for them when Romney, the official presidential candidate of Fox News does — and 22 seconds after dissing the president, Hannity even tells Romney he is “smart” to use teleprompters because “they’re out to just eviscerate anybody who makes a mistake.” (The Gawker video is unembedable, but you can watch it by clicking here or the screenshot at the top.)

Here’s the transcript, which picks up at about 28 seconds into the video:

HANNITY (to Mitt, after an exchange with the control room): I didn’t know we had a script here. (Speaking to control room) Is it long? (Back to Mitt) I didn’t know we had a script.

ROMNEY (after darting glances to camera): No [teleprompter]? Is there a prompter?

HANNITY: Yeah.

ROMNEY: Oh, you gotta [teleprompter]?

HANNITY (to control): Let’s flip it, so I can see it.

ROMNEY: Where’s my [teleprompter]? That what I want to know. Ha-ha-ha-ha. Ha-ha-ha-ha. Ha-ha.

HANNITY (at 00:45): I think Obama sleeps with his.

ROMENY (shaking head in wonderment): Every event he did… (Flip-flops one second later) It does make some sense though. I do understand. It makes some sense.

HANNITY (five seconds later, at 00:50): Yeaahh, you’re right. Of course it does.

ROMNEY: Becuz it keeps you from saying something you don’t mean. You get the message out precisely the way you want to get the message out.

HANNITY: Did you use a [teleprompter] the other night?

ROMNEY: I did.

HANNITY: You did.

ROMNEY: The times I’ve used [teleprompters] — maybe five times so far in the campaign — major speeches or [garbled]…

HANNITY (at 01:07): Smart. Yeah. Right. You don’t want to make a mistake. I’ll tell you, they’re out to just eviscerate anybody who makes a mistake.

The Mole says that a Nexis search produced 202 instances of Hannity snarking at Pres. Obama’s supposed dependence on teleprompters. Without bothering to check Nexis, we can assume the number of times Hannity mocked his colleague and fellow half-wit Sarah Palin for her over-use of teleprompters — here’s a link to a couple dozen photos of instances of her teleprompter abuse — is zero.

Finally, here’s a link to our past coverage of the ongoing scandal of Republican abuse of teleprompters.
