Notorious GOP Adulterers in Senate, Vitter and Craig, Reintroduce Federal Marriage Amendment

A New Low in Republican Hypocrisy Has Been Reached

This is not a joke. A pair of Republican U.S. senators who disgraced themselves with extramarital affairs have signed on as sponsors of the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would prohibit same sex marriage anywhere in the United States.

The senators are David Vitter of Louisiana, who admitted he consorted with prostitutes over a long period of time, and Larry Craig of Idaho, who pleaded guilty to a charge of soliciting sex in a men’s room.

Both Vitter and Craig were 2007 nominees to Pensito Review’s GOP Adulterers Hall of Fame.

The amendment states, “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.”

  1. There is no hypocrisy here–it is only a case of imperfect men backing a perfect amendment to save the collective soul of America.
Craig, who was in Boysee, Idaho promoting his new best seller “Stall Tactics” when he announced his sponsorship for the bill, still steadfastly denies soliciting sex in mens rooms, but has admitted to a few close friends that he has had homo-erotic fantasies caused by an addiction to video games. It started with Pac-a-man, and only got worse when Nintendo introduced Poke-a-mon for Game boy. He swears he never acted out, and thanks prayer sessions with Ted Haggard for saving him.
Vitter, for his part, announced his sponsorship while attending a ceremony in New Orleans, where he donated a truckload of monogrammed diapers to the Corps of Engineers so that they could absorb the seepage from the levees.
    Altruism at its best.
