“A few minutes ago I received a call from Colonel Danny Bubp, Ohio Representative from the 88th district in the House of Representatives. He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message, that cowards cut and run, Marines never do. “

I love the fact that people who have never served, nor sent their children to serve are so free to call others cowards-this is said by a woman who has the chutzpah to call a decorated Vietnam vet “a coward”. I have never served, nor sent children into war, but I would never be so stupid to denigrate a man with a heroic service record, but one things neoc-con republicans can’t stand are real heroes-like Max Cleland, or John McCan or Sent. Murtha-So, Mr. Murtha, please keep on criticizing-it drives ’em crazy!
People like Carole S. with her comment above continue to denigrate the right that our soldiers fight and die for every day — you don’t have to be a warrior or the parent of one to be entitled to free speech in this country. As Liberals constantly remind us, we are ENTITLED to free speech… unless of course we happen to be Conservatives, I suppose.
I support the Police Dept, Fire Dept, and other brave men and women. Although I have never been (or had a child who was) a cop or a firefighter, I will definitely feel free to disagree with one who shows lack of judgement and poor patriotism. Get out of our faces with that nonsense, Carole.
It is ignorant and irresponsible statements that have killed 2080 us servicemen and women over in Iraq. If George Bush knew his facts we would not be over in Iraq and my sons life would not be in danger. If you knew your facts you would know that NO american soldier has ever been a coward. Afraid of dying maybe, but never a coward. Shame on you, and your ignorant statements. It is what it is, what makes you an expert. Have you ever served in the military? I have. Just for the record two years of war is not what I consider cutting and running.
All the individuals like Dawn seem to forget is that while we may indeed have the right of free speech, you may not yell fire in a crowded theater (when there is no fire) and you also may not slander or libel other people. There is no evidence that Sen. Murtha ever engaged in any act of cowardice in his military career or otherwise. In fact it is extremely brave to come out against this administration’s policies in the current political climate. Especially when this administration will stoop so low as to “out” the CIA employed wife of a person who dared to criticize the Bush policies.

There is a difference between disagreeing with someone’s opinion and attacking them personally for expressing their opinion, something that Dawn doesn’t seem to get.

What the hell do cops and firefighters have to do with the Iraq war? When I served my community, North Philadelphia was similar to Iraq. I never wanted any medals. I was happy to help those I could, get a paycheck, and come home in one piece every night.
>
Since when is it “unpatriotic” or showing a “lack of judgment” to disagree with the policies of a loose cannon administration?
I am neither liberal or conservative. And I was an EMS worker for many years before retiring for a career in law.
I think it is Dawn who should get out of people’s faces with her nonsensical rabid diatribes and get a life.

Yes! Senator Sh*t should f**k herself rectally, without benefit of K-Y jelly.
“It is ignorant and irresponsible statements that have killed 2080 us servicemen and women over in Iraq.”
Interesting flight of fancy but wrong, Susan. It is terrorists that have killed our men and women in uniform in Iraq. If you all could stop your Bush-bashing long enough to see the facts, you might be able to fully support the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.
Dawn sez: it is terrorists who kill our soldiers……funny….there were no terrorists in Iraq until we sent out kids there to fight over WMD that didn’t exist.
The best way to support our brave soldiers is to bring them home from Iraq and let the Iraqis kill each other.
Bush bashing?
yes! His whole administration is corrupt…
yes! Irresponsible statements, like “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction,” are what get our soldiers killed. Bush and his cronies lie like a rug.

To hear Trump talk, he’s the only one
Who’s ever stood trial for crimes he’s done.
But instead of courtroom drama,
We get Trump in his pajamas,
That’s how he earned his new nickname: Don Snoreleone.
“In America today‚ 2024, women have fewer rights than their mothers or their grandmothers had, because of Donald Trump. I don’t think we’re going to let him get away with it, do you?”
— President Biden at a campaign stop in Tampa, reported by Tampa Bay Times.
“Some of the 49 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by the state of Florida are now able to legally work in the United States and have temporary protections from deportation — because they are considered victims of a potential crime. … The migrants are eligible for these protections because they applied for a special kind of visa meant for crime victims who are helping law enforcement, after they said they were tricked into taking charter flights from San Antonio to Massachusetts with false promises of jobs and other aid.”
“We care more about the safety of our staff than a name attached to an article.”
In its panning of Taylor Swift’s new album (3.6/10 rating), Paste Magazine chose to put “Paste Staff” as the piece’s author instead of the individual who wrote it. That’s because following Paste’s negative review of Swift’s Lover album in 2019, the reviewer received threats of violence from fans who disagreed. As for its critique of The Tortured Poets Department, Paste Staff said its “mid-ness” was the result of “when the artist making it no longer feels challenged, where she strikes out looking.”
“The House is a rough and rowdy place, but Mike Johnson is gonna be just fine. I served 20 years in the military, it’s my absolute honor to be in Congress. But I serve with some real scumbags. Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties. Bob Good endorsed my opponent, a known neo-Nazi. These people used to walk around with white hoods at night. Now they’re walking around with white hoods in the daytime.”
“Joe Biden will land a major union endorsement Wednesday from North America’s Building Trades Unions, whose leaders say the president has his infrastructure bill largely to thank for it,” CNN reports. “In making one of their earliest ever presidential endorsements, NABTU leaders are kickstarting an eight-figure organizing program to try to deliver their 250,000 members in the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin for Biden.”
A new Siena poll finds that by a 54% to 30% margin, New Yorkers say Donald Trump’s “hush money” trial is “legitimate” — the view of 77% of Democrats and 44% of independents — rather than a “witch hunt,” the view of 66% of Republicans.
A new Marist poll finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump nationally among registered voters, 51% to 48%. In a multi-candidate field, Biden is up by five percentage points against Trump, 43% to 38% among registered voters, followed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 14%, Cornel West at 2%, and Jill Stein at 2%.Among those who definitely plan to vote, Biden leads Trump 46% to 39% in this same multi-candidate field.
NBC News poll: “‘Protecting democracy’ is a salient issue for voters. There’s a difference between what voters identify as the ‘most important issue facing the country’ (on that, “inflation and the cost of living’ registers 23%, followed by immigration/the border, at 22%) and what they identify as the issue most important in determining their own vote (on that, ‘protecting democracy or constitutional rights’ was on top with 28%, followed by immigration/the border at 20% and abortion at 19%).”
