Bush Fiddles (with a Guitar) While New Orleans Floods

Message: I Don’t Care

Left: President Bush plays a guitar presented to him by Country singer Mark Wills, right, backstage after the president gave a speech in San Diego.

Right: Meanwhile, flood waters are rising in the city of New Orleans, where thousands of people are homeless. Fires are burning throughout the city, and looting has been reported in the Central Business District and beyond. Emergency services are stretched past capacity. Food and potable water are scarce. In counties along the Gulf Coast of the Deep South, millions are without power. Property damage from the storm is projected to be greater than Hurricane Andrew, the previously most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history.

Rock on, George!

  1. When you click on the link for the photograph, it says it was taken Tuesday, August 30th. That would be yesterday. Katrina’s landfall date is well known.

The rest of your rant reads like so many Republican talking points.

Most of don’t believe he is trying as hard to track Osama down as you do, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

  2. With respect to Jim’s comment above, right on. “Coin operated country” is on the money, no pun intended.

This is why a national tax revolt is so necessary–look who the tax cuts are for. The rest of us are footing the bill for George’s blueblood lifestyle.

I expect to see more protests going on as time goes by of all different forms. Obviously gas being nearly $3 per gallon in California is one way for Bush and Co. to rake it in. The price increases are not contributing to the road system or anything, they are just more fat for the already obese.

Now bow down your head in prayer to the Almighty Dollar. It’s about to crash.

  3. Thanks Alan. I see that Bush was at a naval base speeking about V-J Day. I hope most people now that he was not a CW concert as the picture tends to let you believe if you do not look further.
Yes I like to think that he is looking for Osama but some people can be very hard to find if they know how and where to hide. Myself I think Osama is hiding in Iran.
An you are right I am a registered Rep. but that is because you have to register with some party. An there is no Common Sense Party.
If you follow the news you will see that there are many Dems who also believe in the 2nd amendment. The 2nd amendment was put in place by our forefathers as a way to not only make it our right to be able to protect outselves but to also to protect the rest of the Bill of Rights. But some of our media people think they are safe behind the 1st amendment but without the 2nd Amd the B of R is just a piece of worthless paper.
Most of the laws passed today have no teeth to them but the 2nd Amd gives teeth to the B of R. That is why some of our politicans want to get rid of it. They claim it is an outdated right because we have the police an the army. But where were the police & the army during the LA riots? They fact that store owners have the right to bare arms is the reason they were able to protect their stores from looters. Look at the looters running rampant in New Orleans right now because the LAW cannot be there or if they are they are so busy trying to help survivors they cannot protect the stores from the looters.
If you study your history books individuals have always had to defend themselves. When the pioneers traveled across this great nation of ours did they have army escorts to protect them? No they had to rely upon themselves for protection from the perils of the wilderness. And I am not just pointing fingers at the Indians there were many thieves wandering across the plains back then preying on the smaller wagon trains. And life is no different today just walking to the store can put you into the position to be preyed upon by the criminal mind. Think not, just turn on AMW some time an see for yourself how many people turn up missing after they went to the store or were walking to there friends house just down the street. Just last night on the news a guy tried to kidnap a 4 yr old boy but luckly for him his 8 yr old cousin fought the guy off with a piece of rebar. This happened in the middle of the day while they were walking home from a friends house!

Bush: War in Iraq Honors Heroes of the Past
    By Sgt. Sara Wood, USA
    American Forces Press Service

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 30, 2005 – The ideals that were fought for in World War II are still relevant today in the global war on terror and are being honored by the continued commitment of U.S. forces in Iraq, President Bush said here today.

At a V-J Day ceremony at Naval Air Station North Island here, Bush spoke to active-duty sailors and Marines, WWII veterans and military families about the importance of the American victory over Japan 60 years ago.

“America confirmed the power of freedom to transform the bitterest enemies into the closest friends,” he said.

The victory in WWII proved that democracy was the most unconquerable of all forms of society and that free nations could muster the resolve to defend themselves when attacked, Bush said. The victory also demonstrated the value of the spirit of liberty, he said, which is the most powerful weapon democracies have.

“Wherever our troops raised the flag of victory, they would also sew the seeds of liberty, and, as a result, the world is better off,” he said.

The very ideals proven 60 years ago are again being tested in the war in Iraq, Bush said. Again, America was attacked on its own soil, and its resolve is being tested, he explained, but Americans can have confidence because of the courage and character of U.S. servicemembers.

“We will not rest until victory is American and our freedom is secure,” he said.

The stakes in Iraq are high, Bush said, but as in the past, the enemies of America will fail and democracy will prevail. The best way to honor the sacrifices of military members past and present is to continue the fight until a free Iraq is built, he said.

“We will honor their sacrifices by completing the mission and laying the foundation for peace,” he said. “We will never let the enemies of a new century destroy with cowardice what these Americans built with courage.”

The future of freedom is in good hands with the men and women serving in America’s armed forces today, Bush said. He recognized the sailors and Marines of North Island for playing a critical role in the war on terror.

“However you are serving, each of you is defending the nation and bringing honor to the uniform,” he said. “Your commander in chief and your country are proud of your service.”

The ceremony at North Island also included a performance by country music star Mark Wills and a speech by Jerry Coleman, the announcer for the San Diego Padres baseball team and a WWII veteran. Coleman, who was a fighter pilot in WWII, praised the attendees for their service to the nation.

“The greatest generation is right now,” he said, “and they’re out there looking at me.”

  5. “Bush Fiddles (with a Guitar) While New Orleans Floods”

Gasp! The callousness! Next thing you will be telling me is that he ate breakfast whole New Orleans floods! Or that he combed his hair while NO floods! What do you expect him to do? Go down and part the waters with a wave of his hands?

  7. Mike, maybe you should have taken your GUN and gone to shoot down the hurricane with your GUN, seeing as how your GUN is the obvious answer to everything. Ever think that love for you GUN might be masking some strange insecurity?

  8. Bush needs to be impeached. He needs to bring home all of our troops and help US for a change. Any objections?

  9. So Bush is raking in oil money? Prove it. Explain how – what he owns, what his profits are. Reality is proven by his publicly-released tax returns. Iraq oil contracts were owned by France and all profits will go to Iraq – all public knowledge. Overseas critism of Bush? How smart and honest and wonderful are your leaders? Chirac, Blair? Schroeder? A bunch of inept dishonest jingoistic xenophobic fools. Stop spewish politically correct shit and research facts. You’ll soon shut your eurotrash mouth.

  10. I am a strong democrat & I truly believe “any republican” that truly believes Bosh is doing us Americans or “our” country any good, or Iraq any good for that mattet is just as clinically insane as Bosh is & needs to be locked up & the shit kicked right out you! Keep making excuses for the moran, by 2009 everyone will be using their “gun” to kill just for survival in the US.
When we went into Iraq to invade that was one of the saddest days in American history! We were a nation of pride & all other countries respected & envied us, I am not proud today & hate the fact that Bosh is everything I DO NOT STAND FOR!
Wake up America! Exactly how many human lives must be sacrificed around the world before we impeach him?
As far as the comments about what is Bosh suppose to do about Katrina, umm, how about showing just a bit of concern & getting his ass down south to see what condition his country is in & the pain & suffering his people are enduring, oh how about like yersterday.
And for you Mike, your doing nothing but sitting at you computer making excuses for him. Are your children fighting in Iraq? Have any of your children died in Iraq? All of us wouldn’t need a gun if our country wasn’t starving, homeless, & people could get a job paying more than minimum wage to survive. I don’t remember being this hard up during Clinton’s years! I remember making a ton of money, vacationing & being able to afford to buy groceries & fuel up both my vehicles & boat. Get a grip, get lost, or put that gun in your mouth & pull the trigger Mike! Your a loser just like “your president!”
    On a side note……….
I don’t have much to offer but I contributed $25 lastnight to http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html Hurrican 2005 Relief, all I can do is plead w/everyone here to please put aside what an asshole Bosh is, and find it in your heart to donate the minimum $5 contribution here, our people here in Gulfcoast states are in desperate need of everything & we need help with this please! Our pres has used up all our extra resources for his war!

  11. I can remember the gun enthusiasts’ argument about – ” What are you going to do if the government comes and tries to take away all of your rights and you’re not armed?”
Well, ace; the government has passed legislation negating the First, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Amendments of the Bill of Rights. They have, by their actions, trashed the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th ammendments. The Republicans are in the process of dismantling Posse Commitatus; this will enable the government to employ the military against the citizens. The leadership post for this secret military police organization has been filled by John Negroponte who has had a lot of experience in this field; he helped set up the Death Squads in El Salvador who were instrumental in raping and killing subversive nuns in that country.
So – I guess that we can expect soon to see all of you heavily armed NRA heroes storming the Capitol to get our rights back for us, right?
Whaddya mean, you’re hiding under the bed and peeing your pants?
I guess that it was easy to talk tough like that until the actual situation came to pass, eh?

  12. FECKING 33rd Degree EEEEJIT…

Self Respecting FREEMASON’s remove this joke of human flotsum from the planet, puh-leeese!!!

What the FECK does he think he’s doing??? there are hundreds of people stranded and dying and that Shrubster joke of a life, is playing the fecking geetar, feker!!!

USA C OF IA created AL QUAEDAy NO???

of course they did, you REAP what you SOW, in this case, the fecking eeeejit was inviting his own growth back to his country to instigate WWIII sell a few more arms to the broken poor. WHAT A LIMEY W*NKER, hope he buggers off to the slimy evelution pit he came from him, his DAD and his FREAKY NAZI Oily Grandfather!!!

    FREAKING ANGRY!!!

  13. IB sorry if I mislead you into thinking the gun is the answer to everything. The point I am trying to make is that we have a right to defend ourselves by what ever means possible. We are lucky to live in a country where we have two ways of defending ourselves. 1)we have the greatest tool of all, the pencil with which we can vote or write our opinions with. 2)we have the 2nd amendment which was established by our forefathers to protect ourselves and our country from enemies both foreign and domestic, even from a tyrannic government. I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights an what they stand for.
There is nothing we could have done to stop the wrath of Katrina, but we have the resolve to come together an help our fellow countryman in their time of need. This is the choice of a free country. Love your neighbor.

  14. Well Sue I am sorry that you are no longer prospering in this great land what happened? As for my children well one is raising a family an the other is to young yet to join the military. But many of my friends have children in the military an many of them have been to Iraq. I even have friends who are in Iraq an they all tell me that they are proud to be able to do what they are doing. Some have even gone for a second tour.
So you are blaming all your finacial problems on the Pres. Can you remember the last two times gas went up like crazy an we all survived. Sure we had to cut back to make it work but we still made it. I think you more or less got a little to comfortable whith your life style an now that things are not going your way it is someone else’s fault. Sweet heart you made your bed. If you do not prepare for what the future may hold you are selling yourself short.
Mr Fowler I thank you for the info about John Negroponte. I was not aware of this situation an will look into it for it does not sound very pleasing. An you are right about the government dismantling the amendments they have been foing it for years little by little so as each new generation does not know what they nolonger have. An do you really think that our children in the military will turn their guns own their own parents? Well some will but most will not. As for this secret military army lead by John Negroponte I would think most fo his men will probably be very easily brainwashed into doing his biding. But I cannot say for sure will need more info on him. What more can you tell me about him or where can I look to find out more about him? I never said I was an NRA member. I know many people who are just ordinary citizens who are not members of any pro-gun organizations but if the time came I hope that you will join us in fighting for our freedoms an not sitting on the sidelines “IF” the situation actually came to past. I hope it never does for all our sakes but if it ever did where will you be?

  15. GOPHater boy are you mad or what. Tell me what is bothering you so that I may better understand where it is you are coming from.

  16. GOPHater: your name says it all. You’re irrational, irrelevant, and you have a dirty mouth. Take your complaints to Brussels.

  17. Kirk,
    I quote you:
“Stop spewish politically correct shit and research facts. You’ll soon shut your eurotrash mouth.”
Yet you say I am irrational. Let us meet somewhere in your home state of Texas and we shall see who is what.

  18. Mr Fowler you are right about Mr Negroponte. There is much info on him that is very disturbing. No telling what he is capable of. I will read more on him in the coming days. Thanks for your input

  19. Hey GOPHater I would still like to hear what it is that is bother you. But leave the colorful superlatives out let us keep this civil.

  20. Mike,
Do a search on Kirk on this page, see what he has said, then ask yourself why you are pestering me. Thank you Mike.

  21. GOPHater sorry I was just trying to get your side of the story. I see where Kirk is coming from but that does not mean I am siding with him.

  22. Mike,
I’m just getting tired of redneck idiots calling European people Eurotrash and knocking their leaders. I’m sick of ill-informed yahoos whose voting patterns are ruining this country. Kirk, where are you? Alabama, Mississippi, Louisianna, Texas? I know it’s ONE of those forward-leaning states.

  23. Hey I am all for civility until our jobs get sent offshore and our civil liberties are limited by a misnamed ‘patriot act’… it’s time to haul ass!

  24. GOPHater you are right name calling is not an effective way of chatting an learning from each other. We all have our opinions but we should be able to talk about them civily. Hope to chat with you soon. I have a ball game I havee to be at. Take care

  25. Raven,
The time is now. Civility has been tried. We have people like Ann Coulter saying that if the terrorists attacked New York, NY’ers would promptly surrender. She says this because NY voted blue. We have Rush Lardbaugh saying of Cindy Sheehan losing her son, “Hey, everyone loses something”. It’s time to shut these people up, and out of our country. Kirky-boy falls into this category.

  26. Wow the tone has really changed with these replies. As as observer from the other side of the world I really do not understand how any sensible person could support your President or his neocon masters. To me it seems irrelevant to judge the issue on Republican or Democrat lines….the whole system seems corrupt and twisted.

Does anyone honestly believe the world is a safer place today than on Sept 12? Does anyone really believe that Iraq ever had WMD’s or posed any real threat to the US? Does anyone really believe that the Taliban were any more deserving of being overthrown than say Mugabe in Zimbabwe or the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia?

I personally spent a month in the U.S. in the early 1990’s on a school basketball trip. I found all the American people I met of every colour and race to be incredibly hospitable, generous, inquisitive and kind.I just cannot comprehend that your country is now responsible for leading the entire free world down a path leading to violence, hatred and ignorance. As as Australian I have the feeling that history will judge us as being the best little buddy for the bad guy.
